Fall Cottage Decor Roundup
This time of year, it's such fun to hang a fall wreath on the door, adorn steps and tabletops with mums and pumpkins, and light fall candles to amp up the coziness and festiveness of the season.
The photo above is how I decorate the mantel in my cottage's living room in the fall. The burnt orange pom-pom garland was made with yarn from my crochet stash. The mini pumpkins are plastic and painted to resemble heirloom pumpkins from this tutorial. The vintage squirrel and mushrooms live on the mantel year-round but fit in perfectly this time of year!
As a lover of cottage style and living, I thought it'd be fun to share with you some images of homes I've run across lately that capture the spirit of autumn inside and out!
There are lots of ideas throughout these photos for adding touches of fall to your home. And many of the ideas are simple but offer a lot impact.
A bowl of apples or clipped branches of leaves in a vase are classic and certainly bring the outdoors in. Pulling out a few blankets that have been packed away for the warmer months invite snuggling in the evenings. Warm, glowing lights fend off the chill and add a welcome ambiance.
Now, let's get on to the pretties, shall we?
As a long-time reader of Inspired by Charm, I always love to see the beautiful spaces Michael creates. This open-air porch at his current home is all decked out for fall with soft throws, plenty of glowing lights and oversized heirloom pumpkins. This photo was found at @inspiredbycharm.
Pumpkins in a wheelbarrow and a pumpkin-shaped sign offer a charming welcome at @my1921craftsmanbungalow.
This stunning outdoor fall tablescape comes courtesy of @goldenboysandme and the colorfulness definitely grabbed my attention! Piles of pancakes along with a centerpiece of mums, and blankets aplenty invite you the table.
Do you read The Cottage Nest? This blog has charmed me for years with Jen's musings on cottage living in an Indiana village, creativity, gratitude and homemaking. This peek of fall mums in urns shows that simplicity can be just right at times. Photo from Jen's Instagram feed @jenniferkershner.
Moving to some interiors, Michael from Inspired by Charm recently shared an autumnal view of his living room that features a small gallery wall of vintage paint by numbers. That natural scenes bring the outdoors right in!
Orange and aqua are a brighter but still very complementary color combination for fall and one that I particuarly love. The American Patriette's vignette of mini pumpkins in this aqua bowl is perfect with the addition of lamb's ear and harvest berry sprigs.
Ever in the tension between fall EVERYTHING and simplicity, let's swing back towards natural minimalism to appreciate this view of Ella Claire Inspired's home. Maple leaf branches and apples are the epitome of fall and convey the season with beautiful simplicity.
A view from the dining room of my cottage! The past couple of years, I've decorated this space with just a few elements that make an impact. A table runner featuring shades of orange and aqua lay the foundation of festive colors on my vintage table. An IKEA pitcher of faux florals in autumnal shades serve as the centerpiece. A swag of faux leaves over the old school chalkboard are the finishing touch!
This cheerfully appointed hutch from Fox Hollow Cottage mixes vintage pieces, like white ironstone and aqua blue Ball jars, with modern accesories, textured baskets and a few miniature pumpkins plus a pitcher of leaves to nod to the season.
One more vignette from The American Patriette because her colorful take on fall decorating is irresistible! This bouquet of yellow billy balls fits right it for fall with the pairing of sage leaves and striped pumpkin.
